27 May PHI PARTNERS WITH KEBBI STATE GOVERNMENT AND MOSES LAKE MEDICAL TEAM USA
One sure way to change the world is by engaging in meaningful partnerships that will impact communities and transform lives. For the past 25 years, Pro-Health International (PHI) has enjoyed such partnerships. Through such partnership we can boast of reaching over 1.5 million people in rural communities across 26 states in Nigeria and 24 African including Haiti.
Recently, PHI enjoyed one of such partnership with Kebbi State Government and Moses Lake Medical Team from the USA. The Moses Lake Medical Team arrived Abuja on the 21st of April 2017 to join the Pro-Health International team here in Nigeria. A welcome/familiarization lunch was organized by the Kebbi State governor, His Excellency, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for the entire team on the 22nd of April 2017. Then the team proceeded to Kebbi State on the 23rd of April 2017 for a three week-long medical outreach.
The beautiful thing about the team that left for Kebbi State is the combination of culturally variant medical professionals from different parts of the world who worked together to achieve one purpose, which is to improve the health of the people of Kebbi State.
The State was so hot with a temperature of 40 Degrees Celsius, but that didn’t deter the team to work as hard as they possibly could. The crowd as usual doubled every each passing day as people came in trucks and buses from different communities to get medical help.
Different forms of services were carried out during the outreach, which included plastic, dental, eye and general body surgeries. Other services rendered were medical consultations, eye consultations, pharmaceutical, laboratory, dental and nursing services.
It is important to note that the three weeks did not end without special occasions such as birthdays of some volunteers, camel/donkey rides by the volunteers and a dinner night with the His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Kebbi State. He also took the time to visit the hospital facility where the team worked. Interestingly, he took the time to take selfies with as many as asked him to.
The memories of the people of Kebbi State, the mix of volunteers and the partnership with Moses Lake Medical Team and Kebbi State Government will not leave our hearts in a hurry.
Thank you to all our volunteers and partners who worked together to add value to the lives of the people of Kebbi State. It is always impossible without you.
