The IDP Camp in Luvu, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State Need Our Help

30 Mar The IDP Camp in Luvu, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State Need Our Help

Pro-Health International visited the Kutara Tataradna Brethren Village IDP Camp, in Luvu Karu LGA of Nasarawa State, for a pre-outreach assessment. At the end of the assessment, one thing was predominant. It is the fact that they need help at all levels.

Fortunately Pro-Health International in partnership with TY Danjuma Foundation will be carrying out a medical and health education outreach from April 3 – 14, 2016 at the IDP camp. We are so glad we will reaching out to them medically. But the truth is, that is just a part of what they need. Their welfare needs are enormous and this is a burden we would love to share with them.

We were glad to see that two to three block rooms were built for the IDPs by a church according to the number of households there. A solar powered borehole was also constructed for them. They also have a few classrooms built with wood and zinc materials for children between primary 1 to 3. The older once go to school outside the camp. Most of them are home because they couldn’t afford to pay for the subsidized school fees given to them by the schools around. While we were there, those of them who went to school and had not paid their fees were sent home. And exams was expected to start that day.

There are 72 households in that IDP camp. Imagine a man with 13 people (wife, children and children of dead relatives) to cater for as an IDP. It must be very difficult taking care of such number of people. As we walked through the entire camp and hearing them share their experiences, we knew we just have to do more than just providing medical care.

They are in need of food items, lots of food, as well as clothing and other things like shoes, bags, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soaps, etc. This is where we would like you to join hands with us to help them. If you would like to be part of this, please call Samson on +234 8178660023 or Chris on +234 8034693525.

Let us be the light that will shine in the dark part of others. When we join hands together, each of us will achieve more.
